The latest version of Assetto Corsa Competizione is now live on PC. Update 1.0.7 brings over a dozen improvements to the PC racing sim, ranging from UI to gameplay improvements. Without any doubt, the star of the update is the new 5 collision points tire model.
Less than 24h left and we'll all get to see Assetto Corsa Competizione being 'freed' into the wild, as a stand-alone 1.0 title. Support will not stop after that, but tomorrow is a very important day for Kunos, since it will mark another milestone in the small(still?) studio's life. One of the most anticipated and discussed features of v1.0 was the 'matchmaking'. The relatively loose interpretation/understanding of what this actually means, led to a lot of complaints/disappointment on the official forum. And since the general understanding risked to. Over at Granite Devices, the guys behind the Simucube OSW, exciting stuff is going on.
After announcing a wireless button adapter a while back, today we find out about a new Quick Release system for Direct Drive wheels. Any owner knows that a good QR is not something to ignore, because any play into the mechanism will add unwanted noise in the FFB. Now, there are of course good QR out there but there's only one problem: the price!
They cost basically almost as much as an entry level FFB wheel. Hopefully, Simucube team.

EDIT: I bought Assetto Corsa for $20, plus Euro Truck Simulator for $5, which is cheaper than any other choice:DMy reasoning was: Dirt Rally is great, but may be waay to hard for me, and I don't wanna spend 3 hours learning just to have fun. Hopefully AC isn't as hard. And I didn't buy Project Cars because of the awful optimization it has.
It sucks that AC has a shit campaign, but besides that, I feel like AC is the right choice. Hopefully this thread will help someone else with the same question. Thanks for all the replies!Just bought a wheel, and need a racing game.
So which one of these would you choose? Or how would you rank them? The criteria I'm looking for is:.PerformanceWhich one will let me crank the settings up as much as possible but maintain a 80-90 fps framerate? I have a 980 Ti and an i7-3770, 8GB RAM.Single player experience:I don't care much about multiplayer, so the single plsyer mode should be solid.Wheel supportDunno if this differs, this is my first time getting into racing games, but if it does, which game feels best when playing with a wheel?.For beginnersLike I said, I'm a noob in the whole racing genre, the only ones I played was Need for Speed. I played the PCars demo and I suck at it, but am willing to learn.
I just don't want something like Live for Speed.Second question: What is the best Wipeout-like driving game for the Vive out there?Third question: How is Euro Truck Simulator 2 Vive support? Do you recommend getting it?. From what I read about these, Assetto Corsa is claimed to be the only REAL car SIMULATION (realism of how the cars behave when you drive them) avaible for PC (not onyl for VR, but PC in general).
The other mentioned games are more Arcade (fun/easy but not realistic) style games. From personal experience, I can tell, that Assetto Corsa is also extremely hard compared to PCars. Both, harder to win a race and harder to stay on the track at the same speed where PCars is like 'on rails'.;)But one thing keeps anoying me from Assetto Corsa: The AI keeps bumping into your car and drives pretty stuborn and half blind to the player. PCars AI seems to be far more aware of the players existance.I find Dirt Rally a lot of fun too. But its a complete different thing to the other 2 games.
1.) Last I played, Project Cars had the worst performance by far. The other two seemed fine on my rig, 980ti and i7 67002.) Project Cars has the most robust one. Assetto Corsa is pretty bare bones. I believe that Dirt Rally has a good one, though I'm not sure.3.) I think they are all fantastic in this area, particularly Dirt Rally. Most people would rank Project Cars below Assetto Corsa in this area from what I've seen.4.) Dirt Rally would likely be the most frustrating, since a mistake is more likely to mean a wreck instead of simply a slower turn.
Not sure how the beginner AI compares. Assetto Corsa and Project Cars seem pretty similar in this area.I would say that Dirt Rally is hella fun if you don't mind crashing quite a bit and taking the time to learn how to drive Rally.
If you want to race on cement, Assetto is awesome except without much frills in the campaign. I wouldn't recommend PCars unless the performance has improved dramatically since I last played it.Second Question: Red Out. Though many criticize its depth, sense of scale. Many people love the game in its non-VR form. Not sure about your third question. Just bought all three of these games to use with my g27 and playseat.Ive played dirt the most as i enjoy rally games.Asseto Corsa is a bit annoying because you need to do all the setup from your monitor and then put on your headset when your in the car, and you need to use a mouse to navigate the in-game menus when in the headset. My playseat faces away fromMy monitor so thats awkward for me, so i dont think ill be playing AC much. Something to bare in mind when buying. For all 3 games prepare to be dissapointed graphically, sure the cockpits look great but look more than a few metres infront of your car and its pretty poor, but its not the games fault is the low resolution screen.
For racing games your constantly looking into the distance, and thats a problem right now.My personal opinion is that racing games dont fit well with VR just yet, for me the imersion level is very low. But when the resolutions become better they will be amazing and i cant wait for that!As for now we get a pretty low level arcade like experience, still fun, but not great.
